About us Leadership Team Joanna Prentice Dr Joanna Prentice is a consultant in Palliative Medicine and symptom control across Ayrshire and Arran. She undertook her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of Bath whilst her year in industry at the Institute of Neurology piqued her interest in medicine. She graduated from the University of Warwick in 2010 with honours. Jo trained in west London and undertook speciality training in the West of Scotland. She is on the specialist register and became a consultant in 2018. She has a keen interest in education and is a Senior clinical lecturer in Palliative care at the University of Glasgow running a master's program having undertaken postgraduate education training at the University of St. George's, London. Jo has an interest in renal supportive care having published on this and other topics including malignant ureteric obstruction and palliative care education. Jo worked as a consultant at The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre, the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow before her appointment at the Ayrshire Hospice in January 2021. Jo has been predominantly based in the acute hospitals in Ayrshire before taking up the lead consultant role in January 2025. Jo is also a member of the Royal Society of Medicine Palliative Care section and has been part of a team organizing national conferences since 2013.
