Having been born and brought up in Ayrshire Laura has a strong connection with the locality served by the Hospice, and has always been aware of the remarkable and respected work that it undertakes. Laura is delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the Hospice Board and hopes to be able to use her skills and experience to contribute to the work of the organisation going forward.

Graduating from Glasgow University with a LLB (Hons), and a post graduate diploma in Legal Practice from Glasgow Graduate School of Law. Laura worked in the public sector, for a local authority providing  legal advice and support in relation to a whole range of areas.

Laura recently decided to embark upon a change of career and in August 2020 began to train as a Primary teacher. Attending the University of the West of Scotland in Ayr (mostly virtually due to the pandemic) she graduated with a diploma in Primary teaching. Laura is now teaching at an Ayrshire primary school and thoroughly enjoying the new challenge.

Laura hopes the range of experience she has obtained both from her time working in the legal profession and now in education  has given her the ability to contribute positively to the work of the Board.

Laura lives in Kilmarnock with her husband and two young daughters. Outside of work and other commitments she enjoys attending the theatre, eating out in our excellent Ayrshire restaurants and holidays with her family.
