Ian Welsh remembrance walk around Millport in aid of Ayrshire Hospice. Donate Myself and my 3 friends are doing a 10 mile walk around Millport in May in aid of my Dad Ian Welsh. My Dad was an extremely active man who would go for long runs and enjoyed being outside. Due to this my family including my Mum, Dad and younger sister would be out every weekend, and on many occasions would see ourselves on ferry rides from Largs to Millport early on a Saturday morning. Unfortunately, on April 7th 2023 my Dad passed away from Sarcoma cancer while in the hospice after being admitted there at the end of February. My Dad was only aged 54. My Dads cancer journey sadly started during 2021 after many doctors appointments and Hospital trips he was told he had an incurable cancer called Sarcoma. This brought a huge shock to myself and our family. My Dad had many Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy appointments over the course of a year due to having low mobility in his left leg and having to walk in crutches. At the start of 2023 by Dads healthy quickly deteriorated and he was having extreme difficulties breathing and shortness of breath he got admitted to the Ayrshire Hospice. The care he received off every nurse, volunteer and doctor was outstanding and this really helped during a time of great unknown for us. At the time of my Dads diagnosis I was only 15, my sister only 12 and my mum 49. As I am now 19 and my Dad passed 2 years ago now, I feel ready to give back to the Hospice as a thank you from not only myself but from my whole family for the support and care we were given.
